This is a reprint of the personal memoranda written between April 28 and May 15, 1879 by US Army engineer and arsenal commander Alfred Mordecai. The memoranda is dedicated by Mordecai to his children and noted to be written from memory. The introduction provides some history of the name Mordecai, a biography of Alfred Mordecai, and a description of the holdings of his papers in the Library of Congress.
