Abstract:
Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy is one of only 10 independent community hospitals surviving in North Carolina. Martin General Hospital in Williamston is the latest casualty among the independent hospitals, closing in August 2023. Carteret Health Care in Morehead City on the other hand is profitable with annual revenue of nearly $200 million.
