The Hoover Hosiery Company of Concord, North Carolina, manufacturers of the nationally advertised Townwear brand of women's hosiery, was organized in 1918 by Aubrey R. Hoover, a native of North Carolina. From its meager beginnings to the time of his death in 1936, Hoover was the guiding light of this organization, and today with its spacious building, hundreds of skilled workers, modern equipment, and efficient sales force, Townwear is distributed to every state in the United States.
