Abstract:

Winston-Salem native George Hamilton IV has performed around the world for nearly fifty years. He was on his way to becoming a pop star but gave it up for his real love, country music. He is a member of the Grand Old Opry in Nashville and has received many music awards.

Popular country-western singer George Hamilton IV, deemed “International Ambassador of Country Music” after garnering much success in Canada and England, decided to trade Nashville and the Grand Ol' Opry for a spot in Arthur Smith's Charlotte-based group, the Crackerjacks.
