Abstract:
The Civil Rights movement’s seeds were planted decades earlier and in historically black colleges such as Bennett. Here, Bennett Belles were inspired by campus leaders like David Dallas Jones as much as nationwide leaders like Vernon Johns. Education and race consciousness fortified them to help instill equality through campus and community activism.
