Abstract:
Rev. Richard Joyner started CFLC in 2009. The entity farms chemical free produce on 25 acres of land it owns in Edgecombe County plus other land it leases from area farmers. The produce is distributed in give-away boxes distributed through churches and other charitable organizations throughout Nash, Edgecombe and Wilson Counties. Many of the farms lease by the center are black owned. The land the center does own had belonged to the Vines family for 1oo years and had been out of production for some time. The goal is to bring families together through healthy sustainable food.
