Hensley examines the rankings of North Carolina's inns and restaurants as determined by the American Automobile Association (AAA) and Mobil. Only one North Carolina property received AAA's 5-Diamond rating and Mobil's 5-Star rating - the Fearrington House near Pittsboro.

Located in Pittsboro and 10 miles south of Chapel Hill, Fearrington Village was designed as a community emulating characteristics of a village in the English countryside. Founders R.B. and Jenny Fitch initially with the old Fearrington homestead, turned into a restaurant and now celebrating its 40th year of operation.

The Fearrington House Restaurant is a fine dinning restaurant located in Pittsboro. Previously the center of a dairy farm, the property was purchased by Jenny Fitch and husband R.B., a Chapel Hill developer forty years ago. A noted culinary expert, Edna Lewis was brought in as the establishment's first chef. "The Fearrington House Cookbook" has been a staple Christmas gift choice for the past thirty five years.
