Previously the center of a dairy farm, the property was purchased by Jenny Fitch and husband R.B., a Chapel Hill developer forty years ago. A noted culinary expert, Edna Lewis was brought in as the establishment's first chef. "The Fearrington House Cookbook" has been a staple Christmas gift choice for the past thirty five years.
