Abstract:

"North Carolina is losing farmland at one of the country's fastest rates. Its farm preservation program trades grants for conservation easements that protect the farmland forever." N.C. Agricultural Commissioner Steve Troxler lobbied for a farm preservation trust program in 2005. since its creation, over 250 agricultural easements have been recorded totaling almost 38,000 acres of land.
