The various dams, such as the Mountain Island Waterpower Station, along the course of the Catawba River were built primarily for the purpose of generating power, but they also have been of tremendous aid in helping control the floods in that area from the often heavy rains.
Abstract:
Volunteer anglers and paddlers participated in a study to evaluate stream flow on the Catawba River and assess the effects on fishing potential. The results will be used as part of Duke Power’s licensing process to continue operation of Linville Dam hydropower facility.
