Abstract:
A land survey ending in 1737 established a boundary between North and South Carolina. In 1750, both states colonized towns in the same region, but it was not until 1762 that the British Board of Trade asked for the boundary to be resurveyed. Finally, in 1813, the boundary line dispute was concluded to the satisfaction of both states.\r\n

Abstract:
The original boundary line between North and South Carolina, established more than two centuries ago, was clearly proved in recent years by a stately pine tree whose age is found to exceed 350 years. And if it weren't for this tree, chances are the states would still be squabbling over the location of the state line.

Property owners in the southwest corner of the state are affected by an unsettled boundary dispute between North and South Carolina which stems from a 278 year old mapping error. Abstract:
North and South Carolina's border dispute began in 1735 when survey work on the northwestern portion of the line was pushed forward by Governor Johnston in spite of South Carolina dissension. The article looks at the history of this dispute between colonies and the various proposals for boundary lines through a period between 1735 and the start of the Seven Years War. At the time of war, the line remained incomplete and further work was halted until conflicts end.
