Abstract:
The local hangings include: Aaron Bonner, 1875; N. P. Overton and Noah Taylor, 1877; Benjamin Whitfield, 1879. The execution of Hatton Perry for rape in May 1898 was the first legal execution in Beaufort County since the Civil War.
