Bob Burke has been honored by Chowan University by having the Helms Center court named for him. The legendary coach headed the Chowan Basketball program for 22 years. Many of his players went on to compete at teh NCAA Division I Level.
Although college basketball started in North Carolina in 1906, it had to compete with the big sport of football.
