Abstract:
the Coastal Plain League has a history going back to the 1930s. The Greenville Greenies were charter members of the original CPL, which competed from 1937-41.CPL came back in 1997 and in 2022 was purchased by Capitol Broadcasting. An agreement was reached to re-establish the Greenville franchise starting in 2024.

Elm Street Park in Greenville is among the best Little League fields in the Carolinas. At 65 years old, the field has hosted a number of championship games and Little Leaguers throughout the South look forward to playing on the renowned field.

Baseball and all its excitement helped create some of Greenville's most interesting recreational activities in 1911. In 1911, the Greenville Baseball Club joined the Coastline Baseball League, the first organized baseball circuit in this section of the State. Players participated in several series against Ayden and Kinston. Some of the prominent players from that 1911 team made it big in Greenville after their diamond careers.
