Abstract:
Arts Access, a Raleigh nonprofit organization, launched a month-long “Series of Fortunate Events,” including theater, music, writing, and film. The showcase celebrates artists with disabilities and highlights their work. Arts Access aims to evoke a sense of pride in and about a life not chosen, and to create an accommodating community among the arts.

Abstract:
Raleigh-based artist, David McConnell, has a new work of art called Infinity Hundred, which stems from varied creative sources including music, mixed media, and a food forest. McConnell incorporated sustainably farmed foods into his art to supplement his income and to improve his son’s asthma. The art project has inspired McConnell to pursue permaculture on a larger level, aspires to teach people about sustainable practices.

Raleigh's Lump Gallery first opened its doors in 1995 during a time when the city lacked a vibrant art scene. The gallery showcased local and nationally famous artists, focused on concept art, and provided a venue for art appreciators who wanted to see a variety of pieces without traveling far.

Abstract:
Six individuals and organizations received the City of Raleigh's highest arts honor, the Medial of Arts. The award winners included: The North Carolina Symphony, North Carolina Theatre, gallery owner and community arts leader Rory Parnell, Carolina Ballet lead dancer Melissa Podcasy, Progress Energy, and the Raleigh Ringers.
