Abstract:
Christopher C. Fordham enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1943. He received his M.D. from Harvard in 1951, and after service in the military and other university positions, he became dean of the School of Medicine at Chapel Hill in 1969. In 1980 he became chancellor of the university.

Abstract:
J. Carlyle Sitterson was appointed the new chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to his new appointment Mr. Sitterson served the university as a faculty member for thirty years and an administer for eleven more. Beginning his new role at the university, Mr. Sitterson emphasized three goals; increase University's role in new intellectual endeavors, increase reputation amongst national institutions, and improve the state through university efforts.
