Abstract:
Allen Mebane and his associates founded Unifi, Inc. in February 1971 in Greensboro. The company's purpose was to develop new and improved equipment to texturize raw polyester fiber more efficiently and more cost-effectively than the competition. They were successful, and texturized polyester yarn is their only product. We the People of North Carolina magazine features Mebane in their Businessman In the News section.
