Abstract:
Tourism has always been popular in the state's mountains, and it dates back to pre-Civil War days. Now skiing has added a new dimension to it, and the tourist season is a year-round activity. Two artificial-snow runs are scheduled to open around December 15th, hopefully bringing a break-through in western North Carolina's economic growth. The locations of these slides are Blowing Rock, and Cataloochee Ranch on Fietop Mountain.
