Abstract:
Reeves’ noting the increasing importance that Pakistan played in Middle Eastern politics served as a backdrop for his commentary on America’s longstanding lack of interest in international affairs. Explanations for this disengagement included a reluctance to acknowledge the increasing vulnerability of the United States. Addendum to explanations are an insistence that Americans become better informed, with 9/11 offered as a warning for what can happen again, should isolationism continue to dominate.
