For the past decade, the nonprofit organization, Little Washington Sailing School, has worked to keep the art of sailing alive, passing it along to the next generation. Sailing is a prevalent past time in Beaufort County, especially on the Pamlico River. All styles and sizes of boats sail on the Pamlico throughout the summer. Young sailors can also learn the art of sailing at the Little Washington Sailing School, which offers ten fundamentals classes each summer.
