Randolph County at 790 square miles and 125,000 people of one of the state's largest counties. It is the sixth most industrialized county, with manufacturing accounting for 46 percent of the industry. The county boasts the nation's largest walk-through natural habitat zoo at Asheboro. Although large and forward-looking, the county preserves its history with Seagrove pottery, dating from the 1700s; the historic 1909 courthouse; and 1911 covered bridge in Union township, one of only a few remaining in the state.

Holiday Tours, founded in Level Cross in 1978, is a bus tour company that provides charter service and takes tourists all over the country. Nancy and Dwight Thompson started their business with just one bus and now that number has grown to 72. The goal of Holiday Tours is to make an enjoyable travel experience where 50 people who initially don’t know each other feel like family by the end of the trip.

The Randolph County Country Store appears to have been around since the 1930s, but was built in 1977 by Darrell Bullins, a collector and restorer of things past. He salvaged and collected all the building materials at auctions and from homes or buildings that were being demolished. Some of the items include original gas pumps, signs, and bank ledgers from the first bank in the county.
