Abstract:
The community of Snow Camp, located in Alamance County, is known for its Quaker heritage. Beginning in the mid-1700s, Quaker residents established a variety of businesses, including theaters, mills, and stores. These businesses, as well as the Quaker culture, left their mark on this small community, providing an interesting local history.

Cane Creek Friends Meeting is a Quaker community in Snow Camp, Alamance County, which formed in 1751. As the Piedmont’s oldest active Quaker Meeting community, Cane Creek celebrates its 250th year during the first week of October 2001. This article describes the Quaker community’s history and heritage, and provides information about upcoming events.

In 1866 a small unpretentious farmhouse was built in the Quaker community of Snow Camp, North Carolina. It taking a closer look at this home and its community, Osborn focuses on the form, construction, and use of the Hugh Dixon homestead through time and its use as an expression of changing values, perceptions, and ways of life.
