United States Representative L.H. Fountain of Tarboro is unopposed in May and November for re-election to Congress from the Second District. The two candidates opposed in the May primary election are Representative Walter B. Jones of Farmville, First District, and Representative Alton A. Lennon of Wilmington, Seventh District. Hundreds of public offices will have their candidates chosen during North Carolina's political primaries in May 1968. Candidates for nearly 100 offices, along with more than 400 candidates for the NC General Assembly and the five candidates for Democratic and Republican gubernatorial nomination provide statements about fiscal policy, economic development, and other issues pertinent to the voter.
