Dr. Richard Williams of near Falkland, Pitt County, kept this daybook from 1847-1869. He recorded the names of his patients, the medical attention he gave and prices for his services. In the back of the volume are birthdates for his slaves back to 1775. The following are abstracts of relationships given in the daybook and verbatim slave records.

The first is a newspaper notice from 1845 in the Tarboro, NC newspaper looking for anyone who knew about John Ross’ service in the Revolution. The next article concerns John Ross, Sr., about 40, of Durham’s Creek, Beaufort Co., NC, who killed Rix Ford on Sept. 8, 1855.
