In 1946, after service in World War II, Bill McLaurin was twenty-one, newly-married, carrying a full class load at the University of North Carolina, and almost broke. He went to work as a parking lot attendant at eighty cents an hour. Today, the McLaurin Parking Company is one of the most respected names in the parking industry. With sixty lots in Raleigh, the company has branched out to hospital, college, sporting, and special event parking operations.
