From Nash County, North Carolina orphan to a diamond empire, Ann Bailey has had unwavering determination to last her throughout the years. Ann and her husband Clyde opened Bailey's Discount Jewelry in Rocky Mount, North Carolina in 1948. Now the jewelry chain has five stores in North Carolina and eight Pandora stores in four states.

Raleigh Native, Ernie Pit, has become widely recognized throughout central North Carolina. Pitt has gained his admiration through the Winston-Salem Chronicle, a weekly newspaper highlighting the African-American community. The success and influence of the Chronicle have given Ernie a place in the North Carolina Media and Journalism Hall of Fame.
