Jim Goodmon and Russell Robinson will receive North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry's highest awards at the association's 60th annual meeting in March. Goodmon, a Raleigh broadcasting executive, will receive the Citation for Distinguished Citizenship, and Robinson the Citation for Distinguished Public Service.

Having built its profits on local news broadcast, the business currently faces shrinking audiences and and a plethora of competing platforms. With 143 employees, WRAL still remains strong and it one of the very few locally owned stations remaining in the country. Jimmy Goodman, 49 succeeded his father Jim Goodman as CEO of the company in May 2025. Brother Michael Goodman, CBC executive vice president notes the company created a specific development division about a year ago that sims on sourcing and development.
