Abstract:
Edwards discusses the development of the Court of Claims for North Carolina and the processes involved when individuals take issue against the State.
Abstract:
On August 7th, the General Assembly passed a law stating that all cases that present a constitutional challenge will require a three-judge panel to rule. NC is the only state in the country with such a law. The law serves to shield state laws from legal challenges as it will now be more difficult to overturn state laws. This is a problem as the judiciary becomes more partisan and politicized.
