Abstract:
The North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort, NC became a part of the NC Department of Cultural Resources on Aug 8, 1997. Tracing it’s origin to a collection created in 1898 for the International Fisheries Exposition, the museum was placed under the NC Department of Agriculture in 1959, and did not have a full time curator until 1975.

The goal of Coastwatch magazine is to bring information to the public about all things dealing with the coast. Coastwatch gives information on everything from what to do if caught in a rip current to giving people a better understanding of the area they live in.

Sea Grant is not the only program of its kind. There are many out there all for different states coasts. Sea Grant has many projects going on, some of which are being aided by other programs.
