Abstract:
Begun by an Ohioan woman to pay tribute to her Appalachian heritage, barn quilts have found a firm foundation of interest in Western North Carolina. Artfully synthesizing history, culture, and community spirit, they can be found along highways and back roads in counties such as Yancey, Mitchell, and Haywood.
