From the late 1950s to the early 1980s, David Lee, aged 74, of Cleveland County had a diverse music career as songwriter, performer, producer and manager. He wrote successful songs for other singers for decades; yet, he never received the recognition he deserved until recently. A new album compiles Lee's best work from the sixteen records he released over the years.

John Dee Holeman was born in Hillsborough in 1929. He was one of nine children, but the only one to have any interest in music. He worked as a heavy machine operator, all the while perfecting his style of blues. Cornell discusses Holeman's life and music career.

Abstract:
Blackburn recounts the life of Nina Simone, who was born in Tryon and died in the south of France. Her career as a singer and composer of jazz and popular music spanned fifty years. Her music embraced all styles: jazz, folk, classical, pop, gospel, blues, Broadway, rock, and opera and was recorded in over fifty albums.
