Harriett Tynes came to Greensboro in 1944 with the job of rebuilding the Children's Home Society North Carolina. The home had been closed for eighteen months at that time, and no children had been accepted for placement for adoption. Tynes recently retired after twenty-four years with the society, and Reece recounts the experiences of the woman who has come to be known as the “Mother to Thousands.â€
