Abstract:

An annual event, A Taste of Farmville has been held on the first Friday in December for more than two decades. Hosted by the town's various organizations and departments, the event features a tree lighting ceremony, music and carolers and horse draw carriage rides. during this time, town merchants offer extended hours.

A noted recreational spot for Greene County and the town of Snow Hill, Contentnea Creek has recently benefited from improved access to its Snow Hill boat landing, a project funded via a $68,000 grant from Duke Energy Progress and $270,000 from N.C. Wildlife.

The Sauls family has roots dating back to 1712 in Norfolk Va., when captain John Fulcher willed his 640 acre plantation to his enslave children.. The family moved to Green County N.C. at an early date and went on to prosper farming the area.

Located in Farmville, N.C., Farmville Furniture is currently in its 118th year of operation. The store employs 10 people. Randy Walters is principal owner with partner Emily Monk Davidson. The original founders were T. Eli Joyner and Robert Monk. The current building was constructed in 1915 with acquisitions of adjoining structures in 1921 and later. The business deals in middle to high end home furnishings.
