Abstract:
“The True Grit of Granny Roten” and “Grandpa’s Lessons” illustrated the place grandparents can have in their grandchildren’s lives. In Ray’s case, Granny Roten served as a role model for the sort of grandparent and great grandparent she wants to be. As for Robert Owen, memories of how he made farm life a valuable experience stood the test of time for his granddaughter.
