Cumberland was divided into four districts in 1850, including territory that later became Harnett County and a portion of Hoke County. Enumeration time for the schedule abstracted here extended from July through December.

Abstract:
Blount (1752-1833) and his brothers ranked among the greatest landowners in American history, owning huge tracts from the Atlantic coast to the Mississippi River. A division of his property was made in May 1835 in Beaufort County. Abstracted here is the primary court record for the division, including land and slaves.
