Abstract:
Sky Ranch, the only camp for handicapped children in the Southeast, was started in 1947 by Marvin T. Culbreth and Jack B. Sharp. The camp, four miles from Blowing Rock, is surrounded by mountains and close to Lake Cannon, where children can enjoy boating and swimming. Horseback riding is the most popular activity, along with archery, hiking, nature lore, and Bible study.
