On August18, 1750, the Nuestra and six Spanish treasure ships left Havana, Cuba. three of the ships were wrecked off the North Carolina coast and the Nuestra on a shoal in Ocracoke Inlet. The story that followed is the basis of John Amrhein, Jr.'s book, "Treasure Island: The Untold Story".
