Built by Henry Warren, a miniature rock and mortar village called Shangri-La is a tourist attraction in Caswell County. The village contains over twenty buildings, and is most often visited by children and senior citizens. Warren died in 1977, but his wife continues to allow visitors to tour the village, although she does not charge.
Fur buyer E. G. Dupree has found a lucrative career in purchasing and selling furs. Trappers bring Dupree muskrat, mink, beaver, raccoon, otter, fox, nutria, bobcat, and other fur-bearing animals which he then sells to buyers in New York.
Recently, members of the Schley Grange near historic old Hillsboro in Orange County demonstrated that they had retained the cooperative spirit of their forefathers by winning a new Grange hall as first prize in the Grange Community Service Contest, sponsored by the National Grange and the Sears Foundation.
