Abstract:
The event was first originated in Rocky Mount's Down East Festival in 2008. For 2025, the Eastern Carolina BBO Throw Down has been selected by the Mid-Atlantic Barbecue Association as a State Cup Contest. The Down East Festival itself started in 1983 to increase awareness of downtown revitalization.
