Rex Browning, 88 is owner of Rex Jewlers in Tarboro. The business openned on March 1, 1957. The business suffered severe loss during Hurricane Floyd in 1999 and an armed robbery in 2018. Browning's daughter, Lynn Browning Taylor joined the business in 1981.

At 81, Milton Bullock is best known currently as "The Golden Platter". From 1964-1970, he was a member of The Plattters, one of the most successful vocal groups in the early rock-and-roll era. bullock has served his community as a commissioner for the town of Princeville and co-founded the Do It for Children Foundation with the late Muhammad Ali.

In August 2018, Nancy Taylor's community organization efforts in the town of Whitakers led to the incorporation of Whitakers Revitalize and Preserve, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.. Fundraising at present is geared toward cleaning out the Bank of Whitakers building downtown. $18,000 is needed for the effort. The organization already owns several other buildings in the downtown. area.

Located in southeastern Edgecombe County, the former plantation home, originally owned by Nathan Mayo Worsley, was built sometime in the 1820s or 30s. Little is known about Worsley, likely a kinsman of Revolutionary War officer Nathan Mayo. Noreen and Eddie Dail purchased the property around 2002 from Archie Burnette. The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Tarboro's walking tour of historic churches is provided through the Edgecombe County Chamber of Commerce and the Edgecombe Tourism Authority. today, there are approximately 40 churches in the Tarboro community.

Currently, Edgecombe County is home to three museums: Edgecombe County Veterans Military Museum, The Blount-Bridgers House and Hobson Pittman Memorial Gallery and the Princeville Museum and Welcome Center. With exception to the Princeville Museum, which is still recovering from losses sustained during Hurricane Mathew in 2016, the museums maintain regular hours of operation.
