Nice Price Books in Durham is officially closing and will be replaced by the Papa John’s pizza franchise. Nice Price was one of the last survivors selling good, cheap vinyl albums. Despite its closure, the Raleigh branch still runs and it collected the Durham store’s remaining stock.

The article looks at the Overmountain Vineyard near Tryon owned and operated by Frank and Lita Lilly. The couple grows and harvests five grape varieties on twelve acres, but the prize grape is a rare specimen from the Jurancon region of southwest France called petit manseng. Within the interview, the owners discuss their regular operations and the success of their white wines.

Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans was a well-respected Durham citizen and active member in her community and state. She was the great niece of Duke University's founder, first woman elected to Durham City Council, and governor for a period between 1953 and 1955. The heiress' memorial service was held at Duke Chapel, Monday January 30th, 2012.

Although the roster of the Durham Bulls baseball team is in a state of permanent renovation, Durham Bulls Athletic Park on the other hand, isn't. Although it's a fairly new addition to the downtown architecture, the DBAP is actually one of the oldest parks in the international league.

Ari Berenbaum is a baker from Durham who owns a pop-up, experimental bake stand. Berenbaum runs a bakery which operates its pricing on a sliding-scale. Customers pay what they want or what they are able to per loaf of bread. Berenbaum also operates a Community Supported Bakery program which delivers bread by bicycle to West Durham residents. The former philosopher enjoys baking and the reactions his customers provide when they learn how to pay for their bread.

The R. Kelly Bryant Jr. Pedestrian Bridge was dedicated in Durham this week. The history of the original bridge built in 1973 and how the bridge contributed to crime in the Hayti neighborhood are detailed. The life of R. Kelly Bryant Jr. for whom the bridge is named after and his positive work in the local community are also detailed. The bridge spans the Durham Freeway near Alston Avenue.
