Hate crimes and white-supremacist organizations are on the rise in North Carolina. According to a February report by the Southern Poverty Law Center, North Carolina has six Klan chapters, three neo-Nazi groups, and two other white-supremacist groups.

A contingent of Triangle lesbians converged on a statewide breast cancer conference in Winston-Salem to increase awareness of the disease for lesbians, and to proclaim that lesbians run a greater risk of breast cancer than heterosexual women.
