The festival has been held since 1985. Liver Mush is described as a blend of head meat, liver, cornmeal and various seasonings blended together to form a mush which is then refrigerated in rectangular pans forming bricks which are then cooked. the concept is thought to have derived from German immigrants.

Winter Storm Jonas brought snow and freezing rain to most of North Carolina in January 2016. At the storm’s peak, North Carolina Electric Cooperatives reported twenty-five thousand power outages, with most of the outages occurring in the Sandhills and central regions of the state.

What can help make the exploration easier, Gannon offered as follow up to her research journey. One was online tools, complete with an assessment for each. Another was recognizing limitations with finding particular categories of people, such as women, and limitations associated with certain types of resources, such as birth certificates.

These parks offer visitors the opportunity to learn about the area’s biodiversity, history and culture, and to experience wilderness, waterways and hiking trails.
