The Twenty-fifth Anniversary of the Aurora Fossil Festival and Fortieth birthday of the Aurora Fossil Museum occurs on May 25 and 26 in Aurora, North Carolina. Aurora, also known as Fossil Town, USA, is an area rich in marine fossils. The festival will host a variety of museum-related activities include an education tent, fossil displays, paleontology lectures and a fossil auction.

The festivities of the Aurora Fossil Festival include a parade, a 5K run, great food, live music, dancing, lawn mower pulls, car cruise-in, and games. Groups such as the North Carolina Fossil Club and the Special Friends of the Aurora Fossil Museum will display their personal collections. There will be interesting lectures on fossils and a tour of the neighboring PotashCorp-Aurora facilities. Last but not least, a live fossil auction followed by the highly anticipated drawing of the 2017 C. megalodon raffle tooth.
