Abstract:
Spruce Pine is one of the most important industrial towns in the western part of the state and has made remarkable progress in the last decade. Located in Mitchell County, Spruce Pine has a population of 3,000 and is growing rapidly and is the mica capital of the United States. Mica, feldspar, and kaolin plants give employment to many hundreds of people.
