Abstract:
For those interested in resources, the North Carolina Gourd Society was founded in Cary in 1937. It is the first such society in the country and is the principal chapter in the American Gourd Society. Events held by the society include the annual North Carolina Gourd Arts and Crafts Festival and the Gourd Gathering.

Abstract:
While seemingly abundant, pollinators in today's climate are faced with ever decreasing natural habitat sources. North Carolina's electric cooperatives are stemming this tide in a more positive direction in their planting of native grasses and low growing plants in co-op right-of -ways. Khalil Porter is head of environmental affairs for North Carolina's Electric-Cooperatives.
