Brittany Brady is president of Henderson County Economic Development Partnership. Under Brady's leadership, the partnership has shifted it workforce mindset from academics to career and technical education. Currently the county has 8,000 technical and manufacturing jobs with average wages of $66,000, as opposed to its $3 billion tourism industry with average salaries at $30,000.

"North Carolina is losing farmland at one of the country's fastest rates. Its farm preservation program trades grants for conservation easements that protect the farmland forever." N.C. Agricultural Commissioner Steve Troxler lobbied for a farm preservation trust program in 2005. since its creation, over 250 agricultural easements have been recorded totaling almost 38,000 acres of land.
