Exports of agricultural goods contributed over$3.3 billion to North Carolina's economy at the end of 2023. Having a vital port is beneficial to the state. Top trade partners for North Carolina include Canada, China, South Korea and Mexico. North Carolina is first in the nation for sweet potato exports and accounts for 80% of international sweet potato sales.

Tyler Chadwick is owner of Carolina Gold Oyster Company, a business begun in 2018, replacing the former Chadwick Seafood in Carteret County. In 2016, changing regulations in the industry gave incentive to Chadwick and his family to embrace mariculture or marine aquaculture as a means to sustain their business.

North Carolina ranks second larges producer of turkeys in the U.S. with $28 billion worth of birds raised in 2022. It is estimated that the poultry industry has provided148,350 jobs in North Carolina. the article goes on to talk about the Youth Market Turkey Show at the N.C. State Fair.
