Abstract:
"Small farms flourish with big ideas ranging from biointensive farming to agritourism celebrations." For biointensive farming, the article notes the example of Mike and Kristina Lore, whose Piedmont Farmstead produced 5,000 pounds of lettuce last year on just one half acre of land. Located near the Tuskasegee River in Western North Carolina, Darnell Farms lends its 100 acres to promoting agritourism, allowing visitors to pick and explore its offerings during seasonal events.
