"The Act Authorizing the Training School", The Kinston Free Press, 27 April 1907

This act became the jump start for public high school education in eastern North Carolina by enabling counties to establish public high schools in keeping with rules and regulations of the State Board of Education and by establishing a Teacher Training School for the eastern counties which would train and certify teachers for the public high schools established by the counties. Bids for the location of the school were to be received and representatives heard by June 5, 1907.
