April 5, 1974 Mr. Robert H. Frazier Suite 206 Southeastern Building Greensboro, North Carolina 27402 Dear Cousin: We appreciate the information sent to us on March 15, 1974. It was a surprise to learn that a Benjamin Churchill also lived in New Bern. We were unable to determine who his father was since there were a number of pages not included in those you sent. Do you happen to know which line he is from? On page 354,a son of Samuel Churchill numbered number five also came to North Carolina. Charles Churchill married Matilda Johnson in 1828 in Iredale County, North Carolina, and you will note that he was a nephew of Charles, Jr. of New Bern. We had hoped that having a list of children of Captain Cherles and Lidia Belden would give us the clue needed to tie in our William Churchill of Duplin County. Since it did not, we need now to check the children of the beothers of Captain Charles. With the discovery of others coming to North Carolina, there is a good chance that a first cousin of Charles, Jr. may have come to North Caroline and is, perhaps, the William Churchill of Duplin County. Is there anyone that you know that would xerox additional pages for us? If you know of no one, we will inquire of the Library of Congress to determine if the staff will reproduce specified pages. Since we know that William of Duplin was over 45 on the 1800 Duplin census, it was felt that since his age and Charles, Jr's wa about the same that they might be brothers. Now, it appears he might have been a first cousin instead. Thank you for your cooperation in our search. Yours truly, L. Allen Churchill
